Get ready for a coffee adventure!

This special blend mixes beans from the Al-Hayma and Anis regions, and guess what? They’ve been decaffeinated using the fancy CO2 method – sounds high-tech, right? This process keeps the beans nice and moist, meaning they’re ready to rock and roll right into your morning brew.

When it comes to crafting this cup of joy, the producers are like coffee ninjas. They handpick the ripest cherries, sometimes doing a little dance around each tree to make sure they grab only the good stuff. After the cherry-picking extravaganza, the fruits are cleaned up and sorted at Sheba’s processing HQ near Sana’a, then sent out to sunbathe on raised beds and in greenhouses for a soul-searching two to three weeks. This fancy drying ensures they’re perfectly hydrated, hanging out at just the right moisture level of 11-12%, no coffee shrivels here!

Once they’re all dried and ready for action, the beans get some TLC: they rest, get hulled, and are sorted again like they’re starring in their own reality show. And for the decaf magic, we’re going with that eco-friendly CO2 method. It’s not just efficient; it’s sustainable! That way, CO2 gets a second chance at life, and the caffeine they extract? That goes off to do important things in the world, like helping make pharmaceuticals. Talk about beans with a purpose! So, sip back and enjoy the vibrant flavors of grape, raspberry, and lemon. Your taste buds are in for a treat!

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Name: Al Hayma & Anis Collective

In the rugged and arid landscapes of Al-Hayma, on the outskirts of Sana’a Governorate, a dedicated collective of farmers works tirelessly to produce some of Yemen’s most exceptional coffee. Despite the harsh, unforgiving climate and sparse greenery, these farmers cultivate their coffee at remarkable altitudes, reaching up to 2,250 metres above sea level. The coffee cherries in Al-Hayma take longer to ripen, resulting in a later harvest season than anywhere else in Yemen.

While the scale of production in Al-Hayma is modest – many villages collectively harvest no more than 15 tons of cherries annually, yielding just 1.5 tons of beans – the focus here is on quality over quantity. The skill and dedication of the farmers ensure that every bean is meticulously cared for, resulting in coffee that is truly unparalleled in flavour and character.

In the governorate of Dhamar, the Anis region has become a beacon of hope for Yemeni coffee, thanks to the collective efforts of its farmers. Blessed with fertile lands, abundant water sources, and towering mountains, the Anis region offers ideal conditions for coffee cultivation. These farmers, working at high altitudes with access to ample water, achieve yields that are higher than most other regions in Yemen.

Each season, the farmers of Anis come together to produce an impressive 15 tons of high-quality cherries. Their collaboration and commitment to excellence make the Anis region a cornerstone of Yemeni coffee production, providing both quantity and quality in every harvest.
